Is My Argus C3 Pre-WWII or Post-WWII?

The quickest way to determine if your camera is prewar or postwar is by the serial number. If you need help finding the serial number of your camera, click here.

1. If your camera's serial number is:

• On a label under the sprocket wheels, and starts with 'C3'
• Stamped inside the camera, seven digits long, and starts with '03'

your camera is a Prewar model.

2. If your camera's serial number is:

• Stamped inside the camera, and either starts with '0' and is five digits long, or does not start with '0'
• Stamped on the bottom of the camera

your camera is a Postwar model.

3. If your camera has flash connector holes on the side, and its serial number is:

• On a label under the sprocket wheels, starts with a five-digit number and ends with 'C'
• Stamped inside the camera, seven digits long, and starts with '02'

your camera started out life as a C or C2, and was modified to have flash capabilities. You can look up its date under the 'C' and 'C2' sections of the guide.
